Devices for Thermal Conductivity Measurements of Electroplated Bi for X-ray TES Absorbers

نویسندگان

چکیده

Electroplated bismuth (Bi) is commonly used in transition-edge sensors (TESs) for X-rays because of its high stopping power and low heat capacity (Collan Phys Rev B 1:2888, 1970, Yan Appl Lett 111:192602, 2017). Bi usually grown on top another metal that acts as seed layer, typically gold (Au), making it challenging to extrapolate thermoelectric properties. In this work, we present four-wire resistance measurement structures allow us measure a function temperature electroplated independently Au. The results show the thermal conductivity at 3 K enough ensure correct thermalization X-ray photons when an absorber TESs.

Entrance surface dose measurements for routine X-ray examinations in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari hospitals

Background: There is not any report on the radiation doses received by patients in diagnostic radiology sections in hospitals under control of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Medical Sciences University, in the south west of Iran. Objectives: The aim of this study is measurement of entrance surface doses (ESD) for the most routine types of X-ray procedures in radiology centers as part of ongoing d...

Photoacoustic Technique for Thermal Conductivity and Thermal Interface Measurements

The photoacoustic (PA) technique is one of many techniques for characterizing thermal conductivity of materials, including thermal interface conductance or resistance. Compared with other techniques, the PA method is relatively simple, yet is able to provide accurate thermal conductivity data over a wide range of materials and properties. In the last decade, the PA method has been developed and...

A Galactic Origin for the Local Ionized X-ray Absorbers

Recent Chandra and XMM observations of distant quasars have shown strong local (z ∼ 0) X-ray absorption lines from highly ionized gas, primarily He-like oxygen. The nature of these X-ray absorbers, i.e., whether they are part of the hot gas associated with the Milky Way or part of the intragroup medium in the Local Group, remains a puzzle due to the uncertainties in the distance. We present in ...

[1032] Novel nanoscale method for thermal conductivity measurements

As the downscaling of electronic devices pushes dimensions of its components towards the atomic limits, new measurement tools need to be developed to address new challenges. In particular, nanoscale heat transfer is a key mechanism which is known to limit the performance of nanoscale sized transistors in the processor chips and thus invalidate of a major component Moore’s law of the processor s...
